The Nigerian Women in Agriculture Progressive Development Initiative (NWAPDI) has unveiled the Sovereign AgroTrade System, a pioneering platform set to transform the way Nigerian farmers, particularly women and youth access local and global markets.
The innovative system combines four major tools: AgriXchange Marketplace, a secure classifieds and auction platform for fair pricing; AgriCert, a blockchain-backed certification for quality and traceability; NwapdiGrow, a micro-finance and resource hub for capital, inputs, and training; and FarmAssure ERP, a farm management and analytics solution. Speaking at the launch, NWAPDI National Coordinator, Omolara Svensson, described the initiative as “an economic sovereignty framework for Nigeria’s agriculture sector,” adding that it would reduce middlemen exploitation, cut post-harvest losses, and boost farmer incomes.
The launch aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda on food security and supports the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) objectives. It is part of NWAPDI’s broader mission to empower rural women and youth through technology adoption, training, and equitable market access — advancing Nigeria’s journey toward a sustainable and resilient agricultural economy.
